How long should I hold on to documentation in case of a chargeback?

Different types of transactions have different guidelines and requirements. Visa and Mastercard require that you keep documents for 13 months while Discover and American Express require two years. Healthcare transactions are subject to an even longer time horizon - you must keep these documents for five years.
