Can I still do pre-authorizations with EMV cards?

Yes! EMV-enabled cards work handle pre- and post-authorizations in the same way as swiped cards.

Remember that debit card networks do not support pre-authorizations, for either EMV or swiped cards. Any attempt to perform a pre-authorization on a debit card network will result in an immediate sale charged to the card. Run a debit card on a credit network if you wish to apply a pre-authorization.
